Residential - Lake Whatcom Watershed

Our hands-on experience in Low Impact Development (LID) design and successful permitting under the new ordinance is unmatched. We continue to provide clarity and understanding of how the new regulations will affect builders and property owners in design, permitting, and associated costs.

As of July 14, 2009, new home builders within Lake Whatcom Watershed Basin No. 1 are required to meet stringent storm water treatment requirements implemented by the City of Bellingham per Ordinance 2009-06-040 and Ordinance 2009-06-041 These ordinances are intended to reduce excess phosphorus loading in Lake Whatcom, the source of drinking water for nearly 98,000 people. Weden Engineering remained close to the process as the policy was being developed by City staff and were the first to test the ordinance under a formal application, and the first to receive approval (See Silver Beach Residential).
